first steps
Eden took his first steps on Thursday night in front of a sizable audience.
I had been thinking the last couple of days that I probably should show Eden that walking straight ahead was possible - not just sideways around the furniture! I had walked around on my knees holding his hands a little bit. My friend Bronwyn was around so we had been doing a little bit more encouraging - including a terrible accident where Eden whacked his mouth into my knee as he was attempting to get to me.
Anyway. The scene was: Duncan had just gotten home from work, brother-in-law Mike was at this here computer putting their Dunedin house up for sale on TradeMe, friend Bronwyn was on the couch and I was cooking dinner. Eden walked from holding the old brown chair over to his Dad who was sitting on the lymphersizer/bouncer. Wow the acclamation! You can imagine who was pleased as punch!
I'm not going to get too keen on it though. I want him to walk when he is ready, otherwise there might be a few too many fat lips!
Duncan is away this weekend tramping in the Tararuas with some blokes from church. I hope he is not carrying the beer. He is however carrying his very heavy camera- silly boy. Great weather for it - not. I rang Mum this morning and was dismayed to hear her speak of summery weather in the north. Winter is back here in Wellington. After more than a week of sunshine, the past few days I have had to re-locate heaters and long johns that had put away...
