harmonic resonance
Standing in a church in Harlow yesterday morning, singing, I marvelled how much the blend of Bronwyn's harmonies enhanced the effect of my simplying singing the tune. As I reflected more I was feeling afterwards this is true in many aspects of our life together—the resonance created when someone is in tune with your life is more than the simple sum of two life notes. Thanks for sharing your melody with me Bronwyn...
We were in Harlow visiting friends Brent and Megan once more, prior to their return to New Zealand in five weeks. Without particular plans for activity, just spending time was cool. Brent and Megan, I always find our time together challenging and rewarding as well as fun—there's a resonance there too. We look forward to seeing you on the other side.
A week ago we also farewelled my colleague, Janine, catching up with her and her partner Owen with dinner in the Wimbledon village. She's moving on from a locum post with us to take a permanent position. We had a great time with this English couple hearing about their recent year living in New Zealand. In one of those strange twists of life, Janine was put in contact with me back in late 2002 by a mutual colleague here in London. At that stage we were just preparing to leave New Zealand for London, while she was looking for information on moving to work in New Zealand. Well, six months ago my boss and I did a telephone interview with a New Zealand-based applicant for our vacant post. It turned out it was Janine! She recognised my name and figured out I was the same person. And so we finally met. One amazing story from them is that when living in Wellington, Janine and Owen ended up living in Tinakori Road right next door to Premiere House—for UK-readers, the equivalent of living at Number 12 Downing Street, though a much nicer house—without initially realising the significance of it! And they became engaged at Makara, a place already special to us that will take on even more significance next time we are there... more resonances.
It's half-term here this week... We're off on the train this morning to the Lake District, for hiking, nature photography, and some serious relaxing. See you Friday.
